- 38.3% of males and 30.3% of females smoke
Smoking Policies:
- in May 2003, the Netherlands was the first European country to introduce warning labels on cigarette packages
- partial ban on advertising and promotion
- smoking is banned in public places, except for hospitality
- hospitality ban will be put in place on July 1, 2008
- tax increases will also be put on tobacco on July 1, 2008
- In July 2008, smoking was banned in the hospitality industry and sport canteens.
