The International Tobacco Control Policy Evaluation Project (ITC) at the University of Waterloo invites
applications for a full‐time Data Analyst/Data Visualization Developer to join our rapidly expanding,
dynamic research team.
The Data Analyst/Data Visualization Developer is responsible for cleaning, processing, and managing the
access to the various ITC datasets as well as for computing descriptive statistics, carrying out basic
statistical analyses and creating data visualizations to support our ITC Project dissemination efforts. The
position requires the ability to manage large complex longitudinal datasets and creatively design charts
and graphics to visualize the data findings.
Bachelor's degree in statistics/biostatistics, mathematics, computer science or equivalent education plus
experience is required. Master's degree is preferred. Experience or familiarity with health behaviour or
social science research preferred. Experience with SAS and R and with one or more programming
languages is essential; as is familiarity with structured‐query language (SQL) and Microsoft Access.
Experience with SPSS is an asset, but not essential. Experience with tools for data graphing and data
visualization to facilitate the presentation of findings from large datasets is highly desired.
This position is offered for a one year contract. Extension of the contract beyond the one year period is
anticipated, but contingent upon funding.
